Q: How can I obtain a permit for a picnic at a town facility?
A: Permits are issued for Smithtown residents ONLY. You must be over 21 years of age. A valid driver's license is needed to prove residency. Fees: 12-100 people is $50.00, 101-200 people is $100.00, 201-300 people is $150.00, 301-400 people is $200.00, $50.00 for each additional 100 people thereafter. Non-resident vehicles park for a fee of $5.00 per car at town parks and $10.00 per car at town beaches (where and/or when non-resident parking is available at each facility).

Q: How do I obtain a camping permit?
A: Camping is available at two Smithtown beaches. Short Beach and Callahan's Beach for WEEKENDS ONLY. The permit is for up to ten people and the fee is $12.00 per night. Non-residents can park vehicles overnight for a $10.00 per car fee at Callahan's Beach. However, there is NO non-resident parking at Short Beach.

Q: I would like to dispose of some furniture and/or appliances, what do I need to do?
A: The Department of Parks, Buildings and Grounds is responsible for picking up these items. We ask you to CALL BEFORE bringing these items to the street. Routinely if you call us in any given week we would schedule your pick-up for the following week. We would ask you to place the items at curbside on Sunday evening and schedule your pickup for one day the following week. This department is responsible for picking up "burnable furniture" and metal appliances (i.e. washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, microwave ovens, wall ovens). All appliances must be put to the curb with all doors removed (or duct taped shut) for the safety of children who may accidentally get trapped inside.
