Q: Can a participant belong to two clubs?
A: No, with the exception of the Fresh Start Social CLub.

 
Q: Can anyone join the Senior Center and participate in Center activities?
A: The Center is open to Smithtown residents 60 years of age and older.

 
Q: Does the center have any senior oriented exercise programs available?
A: There is a variety of exercise programs geared to the Senior Citizens available on a regular basis, along with additional special programs throughout the year. Some of the programs include: Yoga, Line Dancing, Video Exercise, Fitness and Strength Training, Beach and Nature Walks, Ballroom Dancing and Aquafit aerobics.

 
Q: Does the Senior Citizens Department provide transportation and who is eligible?
A: Transportation is available for residents of Smithtown, 60 years or older.

 
Q: How can you find information regarding Center activities?
A: A monthly calendar of events is available at the Center or you may download the monthly calendar on the Senior Citizen's main page.

 
Q: Is there a fee to join the Senior Center?
A: No fee is required.

 
Q: Must a resident belong to a Senior Club to participate in Center dances, trips or activities?
A: No, however you must be registered as a Center Member.

 
Q: What are the requirements for joining a Town sponsored club?
A: Applicant must be 60 years of age or older and a resident of the Smithtown Township. The applicant may be a guest of any of the twelveTown sponsored clubs three times before deciding on joining a specific club. (based on availability) Exception: Fresh Start Club is a singles social club for participant’s 50 years of age or older.

 
Q: What is the cost for a meal, how many meals are available and what time is the meal served?
A: A donation of $2.25 is recommended for each meal. Meals are available on a first come, first served basis. Approximately 45 meals are available Monday through Friday. Meals are served at 11:30 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and at 12 Noon on Tuesday and Thursday. Meals may be served at an earlier time when a special function is taking place.

 
Q: What is the cost of transportation?
A: One dollar each way or two dollars round trip.

 
Q: What services are available through the Smithtown Senior Citizens
A: Some of the services we offer are: Meals on Wheels, Congregate Nutrition Program, SCHMP (Senior Citizen Home Maintenance Program), EISEP (Expanded In Home Service for the Elderly Program), Residential Repair Program, Voice of Help, Transportation. Information on any of these services can be obtained by calling the Center at (631) 360–7616.

 
Q: Where can the bus take me?
A: The bus will take you to any location within the boundaries of Smithtown Township.

 
Q: Who can participate in the Nutrition Lunch Program?
A: You must be 60 years of age or older.

 
Q: Who is eligible for Meals on Wheels? What is the fee?
A: Homebound, Smithtown residents, 60 years and older. A donation of $2.50 per meal is suggested. No one is denied services because of an inability to contribute. There are no financial criteria for eligibility.
