THE SMITHTOWN ARTS COUNCIL (STAC) is a multi-arts organization serving the cultural needs of the community and surrounding regions. Established in 1972, STAC offers professional year-round gallery exhibitions and group thematic shows held at the Mills Pond House, an 1838 Greek Revival manor house, located at 660 Route 25A in St. James. The gallery shows include a holiday season exhibition where every STAC member can submit one piece of work, two Juried Shows, the Photography Competition every Winter, and the Fine Arts Competition every Fall. A Winners Show each Summer displays the top prize winners from those two Juried Competitions. Invitational theme shows include an exhibit in celebration of Black History Month every February and a show each March pertaining to Women in the Arts. Our out-reach gallery at Apple Bank in Smithtown provides additional exposure for member artists. STAC also provides art workshops, and sponsors a popular Children's Theater Series and concerts by the Smithtown Community Band. In addition, STAC offers resource and referral services and acts as a liaison/advisor to various community organizations.
