The Smithtown Water District serves portions of Smithtown, Kings Park, Commack and Hauppauge. The District is governed by a Board of Water Commissioners which meets at every regularly scheduled Town Board meeting. Water district employees are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Effective January 1, 2008, water rates are $1.59 per thousand gallons, with a quarterly base fee of $15.25.
Water quality is regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the New York State Health Department and the Suffolk County Department of Health. Bills more than 60 days outstanding are added to customer's taxes October 15th of every year.
